Boden Academy held a round-table discussion on “Mediation in Commercial Disputes” with the attendance of Prof. Dr. Tolga Ayoğlu (Galatasaray University, School of Law, Professor of Commercial Law), Atty. Mediator İnanç Akalın (Of counsel, Boden Law) and Atty. Ceren Akkur (Senior Associate, Boden Law) as speakers on 24 January 2019. Legal advisers and representatives of reputable companies attended the meeting. In the meeting, the concept of mediation, the advantages of mediation, commercial cases and certain types of disputes to be considered as falling under the scope of mandatory mediation, mandatory mediation in case of invalid arbitration clause and possible effects of mandatory mediation on the enforcement and set-aside processes were also discussed.

Energy Law Commission of Istanbul Arbitration Center (ISTAC) held a seminar on ISTAC arbitration and mediation rules on 9 November 2018 for the energy sector. Ms. Değer Boden, Managing Partner of Boden Law and Coordinator of the Energy Law Commission of ISTAC was a panelist at the seminar.

ASAb40 & Young ISTAC Joint Conference on ‘Dos and Don’ts when Agreeing to Arbitrate: Swiss and Turkish Perspectives’ took place in Geneva on 26 October 2018. Değer Boden, Managing Partner of Boden Law was a panelist at the Conference.

9th Turkey Energy Summit took place at Regnum Carya Golf And Spa Resort Hotel, Antalya on 9-10 October 2018. Boden Law held a workshop on “Arbitration and Mediation on Energy”. Dr. Candan Yasan Tepetaş (ISTAC Secretary General), Değer Boden, (Managing Partner, Boden Law) and Inanc Akalın (Mediator and Counsel to Boden Law) were the speakers in the workshop.

Boden Academy held a round-table discussion on “Energy Security, Pipeline Politics and Investment Stability: What Role for Rule of Law?” on 2 July 2018. Professor Peter Cameron (Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy (“CEPMLP”), the University of Dundee), John Roberts (Methinks Ltd.), Gökçe Mete (Research Fellow at CEPMLP, the University of Dundee) and Değer Boden (Boden Law) were speakers. Representatives from reputable energy companies, energy trading companies, energy services companies, energy sector associations, banks and academicians from universities and energy centers attended the meeting. The transition in the energy sector, decentralized energy systems and carbon emission policies, energy security, challenges for pipeline projects, climate change cases, recent energy disputes, investment stability were among the topics discussed in the meeting.
