Our latest article “Türk Yatırımcıların Yurt Dışı Yatırımlarının Korunması (Protection of Foreign Investments of Turkish Investors)”, co-authored by our partner Değer Boden Akalın, senior associate Şeyma Olğun and associate Nazlı Aytu Özcan, has just been published in September-November-December 2019 edition of “INTES İnşaat Sanayi Dergisi (İnsan)”. The article reviews Turkey’s all bilateral and multilateral investment treaties as well as free trade agreements with investment chapters in general sense and aims to provide guidance to Turkish investors.

18 October 2019: Boden Academy held a round-table meeting to launch “Global Arbitration Review, Investment Treaty Arbitration Turkey Chapter”

On 18 October 2019, Boden Law held a meeting to launch “Global Arbitration Review, Investment Treaty Arbitration Turkey Chapter” written by Değer Boden, Şeyma Olğun and Nazlı Aytu Özcan. The report is a comprehensive study on Turkey’s investment treaties. While Değer Boden, Şeyma Olğun and Nazlı Aytu Özcan presented the report and discussed the protection of Turkish outbound investments, Doç. Dr. Sedat Çal (Hacettepe University, School of Law) updated the audience on the new trends in investment treaties. 26 July 2019: Boden Academy held a round-table meeting on “Recent Developments in the Electricity Trade”

Boden Academy held a round-table discussion on “Recent Developments in the Electricity Trade” with the attendance of Dr. Jan Haizmann (Managing Partner, Correggio Consulting/ Chairman of the Legal Committee, Director of the EFET EU Liaison Office, EFET) and Aysegul Onol (Senior Associate, Boden Law) as speakers and with the moderation of Deger Boden (Managing Partner, Boden Law) on 26 July 2019.
In the meeting, among others, blockchain developments in Europe, smart contracts, EFET’s recently launched Corporate Power Purchase Agreement (CPPA), the differences of the CPPA from traditional power purchase agreements and the EFET General Agreement regarding Electricity, recent trends in power purchase agreements (PPAs), PPA needs in Turkey and scenarios when demand response is activated, lessons learned from 2018 electricity crisis in Turkey, Boden Law’s recently launched 2019 Close-out Netting Opinion and amendments in the Opinion were discussed.

The first Energy Disputes Conference of ISTAC, organized by ISTAC’s Energy Commission took place in Istanbul on 23 May 2019. Boden was among the sponsors of the event. Our Managing Partner Değer Boden spoke in the 1st Panel regarding “The Future of Energy Related Investment Arbitration”, and our Senior Associate Ayşegül Önol spoke about “Main Issues to Consider When Trading Electricity in Turkey”.
